 The Newport News High School Class of 1964 held it's 35-Year
Reunion on September 24th and 25th, 1999, at the Radisson Hotel
located at 700 Settlers Landing Road in Hampton, VA.
Reunion activities began Friday morning with
18 holes of golf played at the Deer Run Golf Course in Newport News. Tee time was 8:00 AM
and the weather was ideal.
Friday night things heated up in the Radisson
Hotel Ballroom where dance music was provided by DJ Larry O"Brien from 7:00 pm until
12:00 midnight. NNHS Classes of 1962, 1963 and 1965 were also are invited to attend the
festivities, and many from those classes showed up to celebrate. Dress was casual and
everyone danced to the oldies while enjoying light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
On Saturday morning many classmates boarded
the "Miss Hampton II" to enjoy a sightseeing tour of the Hampton River conducted
from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The reunion fanale was held Saturday Night in
the Radisson Hotel Ballroom. Dress code was formal but spirits defintely were not. The
NNHS Class of 1964 Reception began at 7:00 PM and lasted for an hour as tributes were paid
and greetings were exchanged. Then, Danny and the Del-Notes rocked the crowd with oldies
music from 8:00 pm until 12:00 midnight. Everyone enjoyed the dancing, heavy hors
d’oeuvres, and a cash bar. The night was capped off with a ride on a restored 1920's
carousel the Hampton Carousel from the original Buckroe Beach Amusement Park)
that now resides near the Virginia Air and Space Center in downtown Hampton. It was a
great reunion, and everyone is looking forward to 2004.
